HSBC CRUISING
messing about in boats
Cruising is a nice way of saying “messing about in boats”.
It can range from anchoring at Irelands Eye for a sneaky cocktail or an afternoon snooze, to heading for Scotland or Kinsale or even Lands End.
A popular cruise can cruise among our members can involve a day trip or even an overnight to Malahide, Skerries, or south to Dun Laoghaire, Poolbeg or Greystones.
The club HSBC has a good cruising record. Northerly trips include visits to Carlingford, Bangor, Newry, Peel, Scotland and the Clyde. Southerly trips have included Arklow, Kilmore Quay, Crosshaven, Kinsale, Glandore, and other ports to Glengariff.
Tremendous fun
Each boat in the club is privately owned by a skipper (or Captain) who picks his own crew.
Some will have spent 40 years learning their nautical skills, others who started later will usually augment their skills by taking courses, a range of which you can find on our training page.
If you are lucky enough to become a regular crew member on one of our boats you may get invited on a cruising trip, tremendous fun if you get the opportunity. Good crew are hard to find. We encourage all crew members to upskill by taking professional courses with MAST sailing training.
